Our design ethos
We believe in the power of design to create meaningful spaces to support work, rest, play, nourishment, relaxation and connection with loved ones.
By thoughtfully selecting colours, layering textures, and choosing pieces that resonate with your personal style, together we transform houses into homes with sanctuary of warmth, comfort, and deep meaning.
Our commitment to intentional and meaningful design means that we prioritise quality over quantity, ensuring that every aspect of the design aligns with the existing architecture of your home and your personal style fuse interior designs that are both visually stunning and deeply meaningful and connected.
-
Carefully combining the elements of volume, texture, light, colour, inherent architecture and object allows each space to be transformed into a home that deeply resonates with who you are.
With a nod to the past, we consider the original footprint of your home together with your existing interior pieces. We then combine these with modern day considerations and advances in technology, building and design. The result is an evolved home with greater practical function and purpose that is distinctly personal and deeply memorable.
-
Our design practice centres around transparency and trust right from the word go. From initial converations about ideas and sketches through to meticulous planning and execution in design means we deliver luxurious and functional homes that are a pleasure to live in and thrive for many years to come.
-
Our interior design service serves as a vehicle for investment in time and money. Alterations and renovations provide effective upgrades which improve the livability of your home.
Through informed decision making, we strive to maximise the value of each square metre of the internal footprint, knowing which upgrades will add value and deliver the most impactful visual appeal and practical use. Knowing which updates are worth investing in translates into long term capital growth.
Before deciding to enter the realm of design, I had spect close to two decades renovating my own properties as a way of building wealth for my future self and family.
My experience showed me the realities of bringing concept ideas to life, to create and execute and build meaningful and restorative spaces that intuitively support how people live. At the forefront was an understanding of what exactly shaped human needs to help transform and upgrade where we work, gather, socialise, rest and unwind.
Working on site, in detail and navigating the complexities of how homes are brought to life, I developed a deep understanding of what it takes to move from concept ideas to completion and handover.
Through all of my experiences, I began to notice a recurring pattern emerge: there was often a clear disconnection between design and execution. Beautiful ideas never saw the light of day, lost in translation as projects progressed. The original vision, hidden beneath poorly planned budgets and poorly managed timelines and trades who were only ever trained to build and not design.
Designers and builders operated seperately, decisions were made in isolation, and the original version became compromised. And so, I created my own design studio, Joanne Marks Interior Design.
Using the quiet covid years to obtain my formal qualifications in Interior Design, I've developed a studio process that ensures that every detail is resolved with intention before it reaches the site.
This approach allows clarity, alignment and a level of precision that ensures concepts are ultimately delivered with a conscious pathway. The result is different: one that presents beautifully and functions effortlessly. Where materials are selected for longevity, layouts are designed to support daily life of work, rest and play and every element is designed to perform with function and aesthetic appeal.
Luxury is found in how we feel in spaces, how we evolve and endure in an ever changing landscape of our lives, long after looks fade and materials age over time.
